Mvnt in Blue

Released on Nonclassical’s Outside the Lines vol.3 , this 8-minute work for piano blends elements of jazz, spirituals, blues and neo impressionism. The piece was originally conceived as a way of incorporating elements of black musical into my own musical language. Largely based on improvisations made at the piano, the piece introduces a bluesy melody with colourful harmonies, which develops into elaborate counterpoint and experiments with tone clusters.
