Antigone

In Sep 2021 I was commissioned by director Dawn Walton to compose 5 songs for her production of Merlynn Tong’s Antigone, featuring an all-black cast. I brought together elements of classic black soul and baroque classical to compose 5 ‘laments’ sung live during performance.  The music for Antigone brings together elements of black soul, electronic, baroque and contemporary classical music. The five songs that appear throughout the play express the grief, anger and strength of the protagonist, and offer a uniquely cross-cultural interpretation of the classical play.
